Hey eclipse chasers! Are you ready for the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8th?
The Victorian on Main is in the Path of Totality in Southern Illinois, and we are the perfect place for your eclipse adventure. Our 1895 Queen Anne Victorian is an Inn & Event Space. We offer the charm of a bed & breakfast with the modern amenities of a boutique hotel.
Situated in the heart of downtown Fairfield, The Victorian is central to many Southern Illinois attractions and activities, and with the Wayne County Fairgrounds hosting a performance by country music band Little Texas, there's plenty of eclipse excitement to enjoy in the area! The expected duration of totality in Fairfield is 4 minutes and 3 seconds, making this area one of the best places to take in this celestial phenomenon.
To celebrate this once in a lifetime event, The Victorian on Main will be hosting an Eclipse Viewing Party in our garden. Keeping with the historic nature of our Inn, our party will feature a performance by the Independent Silver Band, a band that recreates the experience of an 1800's musical performance.

PLEASE READ: 2024 ECLIPSE SPECIAL CONDITIONS/EXCEPTIONS POLICIES
Due to the once-in-a-lifetime nature of the 2024 Solar Eclipse certain special conditions/policy exceptions apply for bookings during any date in the Eclipse Period (April 5th-April 10th 2024). Those are noted throughout this policy.
CANCELLATION POLICYFOR RESERVATION IN THE ECLIPSE PERIOD (April 5th-April 10th 2024)
We are a small Inn with very limited room availability and reservations are our primary source of income. Unlike a hotel, each of our rooms are different, and we reserve a specific room(s) for you and your party. Given our limited inventory and the once-in-a-lifetime nature of the 2024 total solar eclipse, all room reservation between April 5th-April 10th of 2024, will be prepaid, non-cancellable, non-transferable and non-refundable. No exceptions. Nor will refunds be made for non arrivals (no shows), late arrivals or early departures. Thank you for your understanding.
MAX ROOM CAPACITY/EXTRA GUESTS/OUTSIDE VISITORS
Please note: Each suite is set up to accommodate a certain number of guests. The strict maximum capacity for The Garden Suite, Lily’s Hideaway and the Tower Room is two persons. The maximum capacity of the Squirrel’s Nest is four people. The Creighton/Felix rooms comprise a suite that will accommodate four people.
To avoid any confusion and extra charges at check-in, please ensure the guest count is correct when placing your reservation. If the party exceeds the maximum number of people staying in the room they will be asked to leave with no refund.
For the safety and comfort of all guests: Please make arrangements with Management prior to inviting any outside unregistered visitors to the inn, including patio, parking lot and grounds. Outside unregistered visitors to the inn will not be allowed on the property unless approved by Management.
WEATHER
We hope for a beautiful clear day for the best eclipse viewing experience but we cannot guarantee weather conditions.
CHILDREN & PETS
Well behaved children are welcome at the Victorian subject to the above maximum number of room occupants. Children under 14 MUST BE accompanied by an adult AT ALL TIMES throughout the Inn and grounds. Parents or guardians are responsible to ensure that children are not running, climbing, jumping, or being disruptive in any way that will affect other guests, cause harm to themselves/others, or damage property. The Victorian on Main is a pet-free Inn.
ACCESSIBILITY
The Victorian on Main is an historic building and does not offer elevator service. All of our guest rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
TOURS
PLEASE, NO self guided tours. We will be glad to conduct a tour of the Inn upon request, when possible.
SMOKING POLICY
No smoking (or vaping) inside the building or on the porch. Smoking is allowed outside allowed on the back patio.
TAXES
State and Local Taxes are not included in our rates. They will be applied to the final bill.
